Mental Health: A Crucial Component of Overall Well-Being Often Overlooked, Yet Potentially Impacting Physical Health
Mental health encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, influencing our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Healthy surroundings, relationships, daily choices, and self-awareness are crucial factors. Mental health development starts in childhood and continues into adulthood.
Various Factors Contributing to Mental Health Challenges:
Stress
Negativity
Unhealthy relationships and abuse
And more
Trauma, regardless of size, can impact mental health significantly, with lesser-known effects on physical well-being. Often, professionals and individuals overlook the connection between past trauma and present physical pains or illnesses. Understanding the strong link between mental and physical health is crucial.
God’s Healing
God’s Word is Medicine to us. It’s up to us to Believe and to take His Word as if a doctor gave us a prescription of medicine.
There are over 100 healing scriptures in the Bible.
“When sickness attacks, you should take The WORD like medicine three times a day and if situations get worse you should double the dose.” - Kenneth Copeland
The Lord has redeemed us from sickness just as He has redeemed us from sin. God's care for us extends to both our spiritual and physical well-being. He created our bodies, and it pleases Him when we care for them and live healthily. In our world, we encounter sickness and pain, often due to reasons beyond our understanding. However, there are also times when we contribute to our health ailments through our actions.
Know that sickness is not of God just as sin is not of God. He still heals today!
Psalm. 41:3 (NIV) The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.
Proverbs 4:20-22 (NKJV) My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them And health to all their flesh.
Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV) No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.
Psalm 103 1-5 (NIV) Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.
Jeremiah 17:14 (NKJV) Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.
Jeremiah 30:17 (NLT) I will give you back your health and heal your wounds,” says the Lord. “For you are called an outcast— ‘Jerusalem[a] for whom no one cares.
Psalm 118:17 (NKJV) I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the Lord.
Spiritual Health
Spiritual well-being transcends the physical and mental realms. Unhealthy spiritual practices can lead to depression and weaken the immune system, resulting in physical illness.
A healthy spiritual life is characterized by inner peace, belief, hope, and adherence to principles and values. Regular meditation promotes balance in the body, improving mental, emotional, and physical health. It helps alleviate chronic pain, anxiety, stress, enhances heart health, boosts mood, and strengthens immunity.
Nurturing spiritual health involves fostering positive relationships, engaging in activities that bring peace and happiness, and nourishing the spirit as we do our bodies. Consuming positive content through reading, speaking, and listening uplifts the soul—a form of soul-nourishing 'health food.'
It's also beneficial to cleanse our lives of toxic elements, including relationships and social media accounts that bring negativity. Replace these with positive, inspiring, and hopeful sources for a significant boost in well-being!
